Description
Lectrolyst, a cutting-edge carbon utilization company based in Wilmington, DE, is seeking a skilled Electrochemical Laboratory Technician with expertise in laboratory testing of electrochemical systems, particularly low-temperature alkaline-based flow electrolyzers. As a member of our growing team, you will play a crucial role in evaluating electrochemical stack components, as well as preparing and maintaining test systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of sustainable solutions and shape the future of electrochemical technologies.
Upon hire, you’ll join our efforts to address more than just climate change with our carbon utilization technology. In this role, you will be an integral part of our ambitious project to build a new system for the creation of acetate, which will enable us to create food in areas with limited available farmland, offering a sustainable solution to meet the growing demand for food resources. As part of a CO2 utilization consortium, we are at the forefront of addressing the pressing challenges of both carbon emissions mitigation and sustainable food production.
Job type: Full-time, in-person at our Wilmington, DE facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team to assemble and test the scaled-up carbon dioxide/monoxide electroreduction stack components.
- Prepare and maintain the test apparatuses and equipment necessary for laboratory testing.
- Prepare electrode materials and custom stack components according to specification.
- Operate the electrochemical stack system and smaller unit tests during evaluations of performance, stability, and durability.
- Operate analytical equipment, including running samples in user facilities.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues during the testing process, contributing to process optimization and improvement.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and guidelines while working with chemicals and operating laboratory equipment.
- Participate in safety training and maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory experiments, testing results, and data analysis.
- Collaborate with the team to generate progress reports and support documentation for intellectual property development.
- Participate in team meetings and discussions, contributing your laboratory expertise to the overall project goals and success.
Qualifications
- BS/BA in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field, with relevant laboratory experience. Experience with electrochemical systems is preferred.
- Strong laboratory skills, including familiarity with laboratory equipment, data collection, and analysis.
- Familiarity with carbon dioxide/monoxide electroreduction or related electrochemical processes is desirable, but not required.
- Passion for sustainability and a desire to contribute to the development of innovative solutions for sustainable chemical production.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of researchers and engineers.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities while adhering to project timelines.
- Ability to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $50,000 to $60,000 per year. Negotiated salary is dependent on level of experience.
Benefits: Paid vacation and sick time, insurance (health, dental, and vision), 401(k). Additional benefits may be added as the company continues to grow.
