Our Impact in Action
Since 2017, The Innovation Space has supported early-stage startups working at the forefront of life sciences, clean tech, and advanced materials. Through shared lab infrastructure, specialized equipment, and targeted programs, we help founders move from discovery to commercialization.
To date, 156+ startups have leveraged The Innovation Space to build and scale, supporting more than 1,100 direct jobs, and contributing to approximately 2,400 total jobs nationwide and more than 1,200 jobs in Delaware when including indirect and induced economic impact. Collectively, these companies have raised more than $1.24 billion in capital.

2024 marked another year of momentum and measurable impact at The Innovation Space. Our startups continued to scale, attract capital, and drive innovation in life sciences, clean tech, and advanced materials. This year, almost 50 companies leveraged our lab space, equipment, and programming to grow their teams, sharpen their strategies, and bring breakthrough technologies closer to market.
Cumulatively, our portfolio has now surpassed $1.2 billion in capital raised, with over 1,000 jobs supported since our founding. In 2024 alone, we welcomed more than 20 new companies to our community and played a direct role in the creation of more than 200 new jobs.
As we reflect on the progress of the past year, we remain focused on what’s ahead: accelerating bold science, deepening founder support, and growing the regional innovation ecosystem.
Our 2023 Innovation Impact Report is the first such report from The Innovation Space. In these pages, you’ll discover numerous achievements from our portfolio, such as the addition of over 20 new companies, support for more than 50 companies through lab space and/or programs, creation of over 100 jobs, support for 300+ jobs, and raising of over $240M.
It was a year which saw our portfolio reach the $1 billion mark in raised capital as we helped accelerate startups to commercialization. 2023 marked our seventh anniversary, and we’re looking forward to many more critical wins in the years ahead.

This long-term approach continues to generate meaningful outcomes. In 2025, Akero Therapeutics, an Innovation Space–supported company, announced its acquisition by Novo Nordisk for up to $5.2 billion, underscoring the value of sustained, infrastructure-backed company building.
Independent Economic Impact Analysis
The Innovation Space’s broader economic impact, including indirect and induced job creation and regional economic output, has been independently evaluated by Econsult Solutions, Inc. (ESI) using the IMPLAN modeling system.
This analysis complements internally tracked metrics and provides a deeper view of how Innovation Space–supported companies contribute to economic activity across Delaware and the United States.
